One thing I absolutely love about the Fire Emblem series is being able to consistently create a diverse cast of characters for each entry. There's always something that differentiates them from other characters of their own games and from even other entries, and it makes getting to know these characters an interesting and enjoyable experience. With this blog series, I hope to highlight some of my favorite characters of the franchise. :)

JillName: Jill Fizzart

Origin: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance; Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Other interesting quirks:

+ Her father, Shiharam, overlooks Talrega, a former territory of Begnion before it seceded to Daein.

+ Inspired by her father to become a soldier.

+ Only playable character in the franchise's history to be able to defect to the enemy army.

Growing up under Daein's customs, Jill adopted the nation's hardy pride and animosity towards Laguz, and she was raised with the notion that the other race were reprehensible monsters to be hunted down, which her father, Shiharam, silently frowned upon. Above all else, she was inspired by her father to become a powerful, renowned wyvern rider like him.

With the Mad King's War well underway, she joined the fight with her friend and father's student, Haar, and her detachment made their first encounter with the Greil Mercenaries just as they were trying to set-off for Begnion. Strangely, she followed and came to their aid when they were beset by Kilvan pirates, which are comprised by raven laguz and feared as ship-less pirates, but despite knowing that she'd be stranded with her enemies, she joined them to experience the thrill of hunting down the 'sub-humans'. Ike initially turned away her assistance due to her prejudiced outlook on the Laguz.

While Jill was allowed to join the Greil Mercenaries, she was made aware that her bigoted mind-set would not be tolerated by their commander, and so she swallowed her pride as a Daein soldier. During her stay with the mercenaries, she slowly opened up to her laguz allies, and she was shown how erroneous her fears were of the shape-shifting race.

However, Jill's biggest challenge became apparent as the heroes trudged closer into the heart of Daein. She must choose between protecting her father and honor or protecting the friends she made as one of the Greil Mercenaries...
