One thing I absolutely love about the Fire Emblem series is being able to consistently create a diverse cast of characters for each entry. There's always something that differentiates them from other characters of their own games and from even other entries, and it makes getting to know these characters an interesting and enjoyable experience. With this blog series, I hope to highlight some of my favorite characters of the franchise.

+ infamously renowned as the "Angel of Death"
Born with a aptitude for killing, Nergal took in the cold-blooded Jaffar at an early age in order to condition his skills as an assassin; the dark sorcerer had found the young orphan lying asleep on a mound of corpses and was impressed by his natural talent. Combined with rigorous training, Jaffar's exploits eventually piqued the interest of the Black Fang, a notorious guild of assassins, in which Nergal sent him to infiltrate. He went as far as becoming one of the Four Fangs, ousting Jerme of his position as an elite member of the Black Fang.
Jaffar confronts the Lycian heroes numerous times throughout their campaign. He first reveals himself just as the Ostian spy, Leila, was discovered by the Black Fang, and he delivered his usual judgment for her treason; he placed her body where the lords could find her as a warning. From then on, he earned the ire of the League, particularly Hector and Matthew.
As per his occupation, Jaffar initially demonstrated absolute callousness towards all, negligent to all life even towards his allies. He will not hesitate to take the life of another person and show no regret for his actions. However, one day, he was grievously injured after completing a mission, and so he was tended to by Nino, who didn't want an ally to perish. From this encounter, Jaffar began developing human emotions, breaking his cold interior. Even with the order to carry out the young girl's execution by the Black Fang, he defied the order and vowed to protect her with all he can.
With his fall from the Black Fang, Jaffar's reception into the League was not well-received for his past actions. Nonetheless, he joined them in their quest to defeat his former master, Nergal. In the end of the struggle, the assassin was sought after by bounty hunters for his crimes.
