One thing I absolutely love about the Fire Emblem series is being able to consistently create a diverse cast of characters for each entry. There's always something that differentiates them from other characters of their own games and from even other entries, and it makes getting to know these characters an interesting and enjoyable experience. With this blog series, I hope to highlight some of my favorite characters of the franchise. :)

+ His birthday is January 2nd

Despite his less-than-savory background, Gaius still upholds a sense of morality in his line of work, but even so, he does not let his actions bother him too much if it means contributing to the Shepherds. During his early years of a thief, he was blackmailed into tarnishing Duke Themis' reputation after his failed attempt to steal into the royal treasury of Ylisse. While he did regret putting the noble into terrible danger, he also did not want his daughter to be endangered because of his mistakes.

In his second visit to Ylisstol, Gaius inadvertently joined a group of assassins under the assumption that they were stealing into the vault, but he distanced himself away from the hostile Plegians once their true motives were revealed. Humorously, due to his fondness for sweets, he was persuaded to join the Shepherds with a mere satchel full of candy. With his tenure, he was held under immense scrutiny by his fellow comrades, but he was ever insistent on his devotion to the team.

As a professional thief, Gaius carries a calm and collected air about him, and he is a terribly apt equivocator; along with lock-picking, his nimble fingers also makes him great at sewing and making hand-crafted items like jewelry. When he discovered Chrom's lack of perspective of normalcy, he is adamant in showing him the lifestyle of a commoner. Gaius loves to tease others by assigning unique nicknames to address them.

Upon his departure of the Shepherds, the Ylissean thief will forever be notoriously known as Sticky-Fingers Gaius.
