One thing I absolutely love about the Fire Emblem series is being able to consistently create a diverse cast of characters for each entry. There's always something that differentiates them from other characters of their own games and from even other entries, and it makes getting to know these characters an interesting and enjoyable experience. With this blog series, I hope to highlight some of my favorite characters of the franchise.

Born in the harsh desert climate of Jehanna, Joshua is also the prince of the region, and he had lived in the kingdom with his mother, Queen Ismaire; he was taught to wield a blade by his mentor and captain of Jehanna's army, Carlyle, who harbored a deep affection for the Queen. One day, he left his country in order to better understand the outside world, and these new experiences would hopefully lend him valuable knowledge once he reassumes his role as the Prince. For the next ten years, he would travel across Magvel and joined a mercenary company along with Caellach, a man he still respected.
Despite his previous calling, Joshua is incredibly laid back and has an affinity for gambling. He's always looking for a game to play, even with his comrades, but he sometimes uses underhanded tactics; however, he can be honest and even admit his misgivings to his friends. He believes that luck plays a factor in just about every facet of life, rather than skill or competence. Amusingly, he's also a bit of a womanizer, given the opportunity to flirt with ladies whenever it presents itself.
When the Renais army reached Jehanna for the first time, they found the capital besieged by the Grado forces, and Queen Ismaire assassinated by Caellach in the midst of the invasion. If given the chance, Joshua can confront both his former companion and his mentor during the siege, having been promised to have the Queen for himself if he betrayed the nation.
At the end of the war, Joshua assumes his role as King in memory of his mother.
