My Favorite Mom in Entertainment

With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I hope to highlight one of my favorite moms in media to celebrate the women that gave us life. Of course, nothing could ever replace my mom, who, despite our differences, has always accepted me for who I am, faults and all. However, for today's blog, I decided to go with Helen Parr from The Incredibles.

Helen Parr, also known as Elastigirl, was a crime-fighting super-heroine with stretching powers before she was forced to conform to a normal life with her husband, Bob (Mr. Incredible). Before her marriage, she once aspired to become one of the most renown super heroes, and as a feminist, she also wanted to prove that her profession wasn't just a male dominated field.

Due to the outlawing of supers, however, Helen had to settle for a more traditional lifestyle, but she was able to adapt to this change. She made her family's well-fare a top priority, from encouraging her timid daughter, Violet, to keeping tabs on Dash's mildly rebellious behavior, and she would often be the peace-keeper when the two clash. For the most part, she kept herself busy around the house with chores and taking care of the youngest member of the family, Jack-Jack.

Additionally, Helen wanted to protect the family from the persecution they could face from their powers, so she would uphold the anti-Supers law in the house, unlike her husband; the discovery of Bob's surreptitious outings of crime-fighting strained their relationship. While it was mended overtime, she became of suspicious of Bob's actions once again, and after a thorough investigation, she figured out that Bob was in grave danger. Once again, she took up her former career to save him, laws be damned.

She would do anything to protect her family, even if it means risking her life.
